MILLER LOOKS TO IMPROVE CITY HALL COMMUNICATIONS

Freeport Mayor Miller says she wants to build on the improvements the Freeport city government has
made in its communications to its citizens. “Over the past four years we have greatly improved our website, our city newsletter, and our presence on social media,” she says,” but now it’s time to take it up a notch.”
Following the city’s recent success in making their newsletter available in Spanish, Mayor Miller is
proposing making all major city communications available in languages other than just English.
“Freeport is a city that values its diversity and all its residents,” says Mayor Miller. “I look forward to
working on improving our written communications with all of our citizens.”
The two-term mayor also says she would like the city to explore other forms of mass communication
such as radio, video, and podcasts, as well as other social media platforms.
Miller envisions a weekly podcast that features different city department heads that would speak to
improvements their respective departments are making on behalf of the community.
“It’s important for us to do all we can to communicate clearly and consistent with as many of our
citizens as we can and on media platforms they receive their information on,” says Mayor Miller.
