Over the past eight years, I have had the honor of serving Freeport as its mayor. With
your support, I would love the opportunity to continue the work that was started eight
years ago.

Much has been accomplished since 2017 but there is much more to do. Moving our
local economy forward needs to be a priority for us over the next four years.
We have had success in attracting new private investment for the Meadows Shopping
Center; attracting new retail and commercial developments like Starbucks, Casey’s
Dunkin Donuts, Marshalls, Five Below, Pet Supplies Plus, and Beef A Roo; and have
witnessed a long overdue renaissance at the Lincoln Mall. But now it’s time to focus on
other aspects of our local economy that will strengthen our community.

Here is what I hope to accomplish over the next four years as mayor of Freeport:

* Support city infrastructure and utility upgrades that support new commercial and

industrial opportunities
* Develop at least four new ‘shovel ready’ commercial and industrial sites for
quicker response to development opportunities
* Create a stronger business retention and relationship program
* Build a better pipeline for national retail development and replacement
* Retool and rebrand Downtown Freeport as an entrepreneur and small business
incubation district, as well as an arts and cultural district
* Pursue the development of a new housing subdivision to attract new families to
our community
* Partner with local efforts to expand the availability of licensed childcare and infant
care in Freeport
* Make fiber optic internet connectivity available to every home and business in
Freeport by 2029
* Expand multi-day, overnight tourism and visitor events and encourage the growth
of the award-winning Tutty Baker Festival and the development of other family
fun festivals and events.

Let’s be clear. Freeport does not operate in an economy vacuum. What happens
nationally and in Illinois impacts Freeport. But what we can control in retooling and
improving our local economy, we will make every effort to do so.
If you haven’t already voted this election season, I encourage you to do so. Not only is
voting our right but, as citizens, it is also our duty.

Election Day is Tuesday, April 1 st .
